Vino Bravo announces the 2007 Vinitaly US Tour
Vinitaly is the largest and most important Italian wine conference, but it takes place in the spring at the Verona Exhibition Center, making it difficult for most American buyers and consumers to attend. Fortunately following the big event a smaller group of producers travels all over the world showcasing their wines and searching for importers and distributors. Some of these winemakers already have US representation and use this tour as an opportunity to meet their clients and spend time in the markets where the wines are being sold already. Vino Bravo is fortunate to have three such producers present at the events this year. Terre di Giurfo, Benanti and Ricci Curbastro will all be presenting their wines at the Vinitaly US stops in Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. We look forward to introducing you to our winemakers at the event!

2006 Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri: Vinicola Benanti
"Another bull's eye for Etna Bianco Superiore Pietramarina '01, one of Italy's most intriguing whites. It is produced entirely from Carricante grapes from old vines grown 1,000 meters high on Mount Etna, Europe's most restless volcano. The wine's bright gold is only the prelude to a fascinating, elegant nose of orange blossom, thyme, star-anise and gunflint, and then the palate is soft, fresh, savory and outstandingly well balanced. It's a masterpiece of which Giuseppe Benanti can be justifiably proud. Benanti, a well-known local businessman, with his invaluable enologist Salvo Foti, has dedicated himself body and soul to the anything but easy task of bringing the fine wines of Etna back to prominence. Etna Rosso Serra della Contessa 2002, from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes, was also terrific. A ruby red tending to garnet, it is austere, spicy, highly elegant and surprisingly lively, qualities that took it into our finals. Etna Rosso Rovitello 2001 from the same grape blend, is almost as good, impressing with its elegant, harmonious blackberry fruits, spices, leather, liquorice and tobacco. But Benanti's endeavors to rediscover the enological past also regarding monovarietals, and the results are extremely interesting. For example, there is the rare Minnella 2004, a ripe white with exciting aromas of summer flowers and citrus. The rest of the range is very good."

Italy-America Chamber of Commerce Umbria Festival: Featured Producer Antonelli San Marco
In Los Angeles during December of 2006 the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a month-long series of events and tastings in order to increase exposure of Umbria's food and wines. Vino Bravo's leading Umbrian producer, Antonelli San Marco will be among the few wineries chosen to represent the region's excellent traditions in winemaking. Antonelli's classic, traditional winemaking practices make the wines among the most well-preserved, unaffected versions of traditional Umbrian wines. Umbrian wines will be featured at multiple prominent restaurants through southern California, such as Ago Restaurant and Campanile. The Wine House on Cotner Avenue (310- 479-3731) and Silverlake Wine (323-662-9024) are also excellent resources to find many of these exciting Umbrian producers in a retail setting. Both the Rosso di Montefalco 2003 and the Sagrantino 2001 are imported through Vino Bravo.
