Maria Pia Castelli di Monte Urano

History of the Estate:
Maria Pia Castelli di Monte Urano was founded in 1999 by Maria Pia's father, Erasmo Castelli with the specific intent to create high-quality, specialized wines. Their first vintages (Stella Flora 2002, Sant' Isidoro 2003) have proven that although new to the Marche production scene, they intend to impress and succeed from the very beginning.

Maria Pia Castelli has chosen to remain faithful to autochthonous vines, indigenous to the local area. These include white varietals like Passerina and Pecorino which are still somewhat unknown to the word wine consciousness. They have also begun to make their mark in contemporary enology by leaving the grapes on the skins for lengthy periods of time in order to increase complexity, color and fruit tannins even in their whites. This truly is a producer to keep and eye on- who knows what they'll be doing next!
